How to Start a Product Business (Step-by-Step Series) | #HerEconomy

I’m starting a new series for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Over the next few posts, I’ll be sharing a simple, step-by-step guide covering everything from sourcing products, manufacturing, shipping, and more.

My first topic will be how to source from Alibaba/IndiaMart.

I’ve been running my own business since 2022, and along the way I’ve learned a lot, sometimes the hard way. I’ve made mistakes that were honestly avoidable, and I’ve also started several ventures. Some worked, some didn’t, but every experience taught me something valuable.

The goal of this series is simple: to make the journey a little easier for someone else. If even one or two entrepreneurs find it helpful, then it will be worth it.

This will be a small shift from my usual poetry content, but I’m excited to share more practical insights for those building something of their own.

What you’ll learn in this series as an entrepreneur:

  1. How to place bulk customized orders from Alibaba without getting scammed.
I’ll walk through how to find reliable suppliers, ask the right questions, and protect your money.
  2. Shipping options from China or India to North America.
Understanding freight, shipping methods, and how to move products efficiently without overpaying.
  3. Building your online presence.
Simple website and marketing options to help you launch and start selling.
  4. Selling on Shopify vs selling on Amazon.
The differences, pros and cons, and how to choose the platform that fits your product and goals.
  5. How to reach your customers.
Practical ways to find your audience and turn interest into actual sales.

If you’re thinking about starting a business, or already running one, this series will break the process down step by step, without jargon, unnecessary complexity, or gatekeeping. I’ll share everything transparently so the journey feels less overwhelming and more doable.

The first episode starts tomorrow.

Subscribe below so you don’t miss it.
