What is wrong, my beloved?

1–2 minutes

read

What is wrong, my beloved?
What is it that lingers in your eyes,
And what secret does your smile whisper,
telling a story that your gaze denies?

What is it in your unspoken thoughts
that cuts so deep?
Let me bear the burden you carry
I wouldn’t care!, even if it were like mountains.

But tell me,
what is it with our dear ones,
that our hearts tremble and ache
at the sadness hidden in their gaze?

And when I see the sorrow in their eyes,
I’m afraid…
can they see the sorrow in mine?
Better, perhaps, to remain blind
